The hotel

Wood, water and the slopes of Hirafu.

Sansui Niseko opened on 23 November 2022 on Hirafuzaka Street in Grand Hirafu, a few steps from the Welcome Center. The building is by nA Nakayama Architects, who worked from the idea of wa, harmony, with natural materials throughout. The windows run from floor to ceiling, and Mount Yotei fills many of them. Skis go on at the door, since the hotel is ski-in, ski-out on the Grand Hirafu slopes.

Every suite has a kitchen or kitchenette and a washer-dryer, which makes long winter stays easy. The hotel also has an onsen fed by mineral-rich underground water, private baths that guests can book, a spa, a gym, an art gallery and a playroom for children. The MICHELIN Guide gave it a Key in 2024, and it has kept one every year since.

  • Sushi Shin by Miyakawa The Niseko branch of Miyakawa in Sapporo, serving Edomae sushi made with local ingredients.
  • The onsen A traditional hot-spring bath, plus private onsen to book. Outside the ski season, visitors can use it by the day.
  • Ski in, ski out The Hirafu runs come down to the door, and there is a ski rental centre in the building.
