The city
Kongens Nytorv, Tivoli and the harbour.
A Frenchman and the daughter of a royal cook opened a restaurant by the lakes in 1755; after a fire in 1795 it settled on Kongens Nytorv, and the Hotel d'Angleterre is still there, looking across the square at the Royal Theatre. Tivoli opens its gardens a short walk away, with Nimb's Moorish façade on one side.
Summer is short: June to August, around 20 °C, with daylight until late in the evening. Twenty-one restaurants hold thirty-one MICHELIN stars in the 2026 guide, three of them with the full three: Geranium, Kadeau and Jordnær, a short drive north.
