The hotel
A full hotel in Grand Hirafu.
Setsu Niseko opened in December 2022, built by the developer SC Global between Mount Yotei and the slopes of Mount Annupuri. At 190 units it is the largest full-service hotel in the area. The design follows an old Japanese phrase, setsu getsu ka, snow, moon and flowers, and mixes modern lines with Japanese craft. Rikka Spa, run with Lapidem Tokyo, sits within one of the largest wellness centres in Grand Hirafu.
Every unit, from a studio of 40 square metres to a four-bedroom penthouse, has a full kitchen and laundry. Under the same roof, five restaurants run from ramen to tempura and Edomae sushi. The MICHELIN Guide has given Setsu a Key in each of its three Japanese selections, in 2024, 2025 and 2026. The sushi counter, Shinonome Niseko, is led by Wataru Nakahara, who was born in Hokkaido.
- The onsen Indoor and outdoor mineral pools, a sauna and private onsen rooms, part of one of the largest wellness centres in Grand Hirafu.
- Rikka Spa Treatments run with Lapidem Tokyo, beside a gym and Studio En for yoga and reformer pilates.
- Tempura Araki A small tempura and omakase counter, sister to the Araki restaurant in Sapporo.
