The hotel

The first house after the dam.

Drive or ride the train across the Hindenburgdamm and this is the first hotel you see on Sylt. The house went up in 1983 as a thatched country home on the edge of Morsum, the village at the island's eastern tip. In 2016 it was renovated from top to bottom and reopened on 29 July as the small sister of Severin's Resort & Spa in Keitum.

Around it lies the Morsum Kliff nature reserve. The cliff runs for about 1,800 metres and rises to 21 metres, in bands of coloured sand. Inside, the rooms are Nordic and nautical in tone. Outside, the restaurant terrace looks over the Wadden Sea to the dam and the mainland beyond. Westerland and the open North Sea shore are about twelve kilometres to the west.

  • The terrace The restaurant seats up to seventy, and its terrace faces the tidal flats and the Hindenburgdamm.
  • The reserve Walks along the Morsum Kliff and its coloured sand begin outside the hotel.
  • A small spa A sauna and a steam bath in the house, with bicycles to borrow for the rest of the island.
