The hotel
A plaza hotel renamed.
Before Mövenpick the building was the Registan Plaza, a four-star hotel on Shohruh Mirzo street. Accor signed it with the Uzbek Hyper Group of Companies, renovated it and moved it up a category, and it opened under the Swiss brand in 2022 with about 165 rooms on seven storeys. The spa and pool were part of the plan from the start, along with a large lobby, a lounge bar and a hall for events. Today the hotel lists six types of room, from standard doubles to apartments for four.
The location is the reason to stay. The Gur-e-Amir, where Timur is buried, is around five hundred metres away, and the Registan about 1.3 kilometres, close enough to walk there and back between meals. Accor places the hotel between the old city and the business district, and six meeting rooms make it useful for work as well as for the madrasas.
