The hotel
A links hotel at the end of the island.
Budersand stands at Hörnum, the southern end of Sylt, on land once taken up by a barracks. The Berlin practice Dierks, Kunze und Oevermann left out the island's usual thatch and wrapped the buildings in cedar louvres, left to weather in the sun and wind. Jan Wichers of Hamburg did the interiors. The hotel opened in May 2009.
Its own golf course runs along the shore between dunes and sea, an 18-hole links in the Scottish manner that Golf Magazin named the most popular in Germany in 2026. Inside are an art collection and a library chosen by the writer Elke Heidenreich, and a spa of more than 1,000 square metres looking out to the North Sea.
- GC Budersand An 18-hole links laid out along the coast, with a golf academy and school on site.
- A spa facing the sea More than 1,000 square metres, with a pool lit in colour and a clear view of the North Sea.
- Books and art A library put together by Elke Heidenreich, and contemporary art throughout the house.
