The hotel
Two spare rooms that became a hotel.
Early in the twentieth century Luigi Esposito and Laura Cannavale set aside two rooms of their Capri house, a wedding gift from their families, for travellers. Laura came from a line of hotel keepers going back to the mid-nineteenth century. Luigi's father grew flowers, and the planting on the terraces comes from him. The family's welcome soon made the small house known.
The house grew room by room into the hotel the couple had wanted. Three generations of Espositos have run it since, and the villa has been renovated in recent years. It stands on Via Occhio Marino, in a part of town closed to traffic, a few minutes from Via Camerelle, the Certosa di San Giacomo and the Gardens of Augustus.
- The pool For hotel guests only, with lawns, mimosa, almond and citrus trees around it and a bar for lunch and cocktails.
- The terrace Breakfast is served here on warm mornings, and dinner by candlelight at sunset. In cooler weather breakfast comes to the room at no charge.
- On foot The Piazzetta is about 600 metres away, the Gardens of Augustus 450 metres, and Via Camerelle 200 metres.

Getting there
Flying to Amalfi.
From Naples International a taxi reaches the port in about thirty minutes, and the hydrofoil to Capri takes about fifty more. Private jets also land at Naples. Allow about an hour and three quarters from the runway to the hotel, our estimate, including the funicular and the walk from the Piazzetta.
