The hotel
A villa on the edge of Anacapri.
The house was built in 1850 on a cliff below Monte Solaro, the highest point of Capri. In 1940 the Signorini family bought it and turned it into a hotel, and in 1995 they brought it up to the standard it keeps today. One suite carries the name of King Farouk of Egypt, who kept it booked all year round. The terrace stands about 300 metres above the water.
Anacapri is the higher of the island's two towns, about ten minutes by road from Capri itself. The centre is under 200 metres from the gate, and Axel Munthe's house and the chairlift up Monte Solaro are a short walk away. In 2025 the Signorini family sold the hotel to Gruppo Statuto, owners of the Danieli in Venice, and the guide's 2026 selection gave it its first MICHELIN Key.
- The pool An infinity pool on two levels at the edge of the cliff, free for hotel guests, with the Sorrento peninsula and Vesuvius across the bay.
- From the garden Basil, rosemary and lemongrass grow in the hotel's own kitchen garden. Fish comes from the island's boats each morning and the bread is baked in house.
- Anacapri on foot The town centre, the Villa San Michele and the Monte Solaro chairlift are all within walking distance. Capri town is about ten minutes by taxi or bus.
