The hotel
The old Exchange near La Fenice.
Umberto Bellotto designed the building as the city's Stock Exchange, and later it housed the Chamber of Commerce. Finished in 1929, it was the first reinforced-concrete building in Venice, and its mix of Art Nouveau, Liberty and Modernist forms is now protected by law. Chimeras decorate the facade, and two sixteenth-century stone lions guard the door on Calle Larga XXII Marzo.
The Paris group Evok Collection opened it as a hotel in June 2023, its first hotel in Italy. The architect Alberto Torsello worked on the structure, while Yann Le Coadic and Alessandro Scotto spent more than four years on the interiors: marmorino plaster, wrought iron, Venetian glass and a mosaic octopus in every bathroom. The MICHELIN Guide gave it one Key in 2024 and two in 2026.
- The rooftop pool A pool lined in gold mosaic on the top floor, with a view round the whole city. The hotel calls it the only one of its kind in Venice.
- The Library Bar More than four thousand books, half of them on art, a piano, and a ceiling fresco by Simon Buret that reads "here sea urchins are stars".
- Nolinski Spa An Ottoman-inspired spa on the third floor, run with myBlend, with separate spaces for treatments and for rest.
