The hotel
The oldest hotel in Venice.
The hotel traces its story to the Osteria della Luna, which sheltered Knights Templar bound for the Holy Land in the twelfth century. The building has since been a convent and an aristocratic house, and the hotel calls itself the oldest in Venice. It stands on Calle Larga de l'Ascension, a minute on foot from Piazza San Marco and the Doge's Palace.
A renovation that ran for five years ended in 2026. Spagnulo & Partners redid the reception and the Canova Bar in 2021. Every room and suite was refitted in Rubelli fabrics, Carrara marble and wooden floors. The Marco Polo Ballroom was finished in 2026, and its eighteenth-century frescoes from the School of Tiepolo and nineteenth-century paintings by Ermolao Paoletti were kept.
- Marco Polo Ballroom Breakfast under eighteenth-century frescoes from the School of Tiepolo, in a room restored in 2026.
- Santo Mare A seafood restaurant opened in 2025 with Reitano Food, where guests choose their fish before it is cooked.
- A minute from the Piazza Piazza San Marco and the Doge's Palace are steps away, and the hotel has its own water arrival.
