The hotel
A mansion of 1925 under the Acropolis.
The architect Andreas Kriezis built the house in 1925 for the shipping owner Dimitrios Kallimasiotis. By the mid-1930s it had become a shop selling fine textiles, and in time it stood empty. Grecotel bought it and spent years restoring it, keeping the arches, the high ceilings and the tall windows of the neoclassical front. The project took seven years of planning, and the Prix Versailles gave the restored exterior a special prize in 2024.
The Dolli opened early in 2023 with forty-six rooms over five floors. Mari Daskalantonaki of Grecotel oversaw the interiors and hung the walls with ancient Greek plates and works by Picasso, Cocteau, Calder and Les Lalanne. In 2025 the MICHELIN Guide gave it two Keys in its first Greek selection, and kept them in 2026. Readers of Condé Nast Traveler ranked it the best hotel in Athens in 2026.
