The hotel
Between the souq and the banks.
Downtown Rotana took its first guests on 1 March 2016, and Bahrain's Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism opened it formally three weeks later. Its owner, Banader Hotels Company, which is listed on the Bahrain Bourse, had spent about ten years on the project. Rotana runs it under contract; it was the group's third hotel in the kingdom, and took Rotana past 680 rooms in Bahrain.
The tower rises twenty-six storeys on Government Avenue, with the old Manama souq behind Bab Al Bahrain on one side and the financial district on the other. The guest rooms begin on the tenth floor, so every window looks out over the city. The pool and the Alto lounge are on the roof, and the Bodylines club has a gym, a sauna, a steam room and a jacuzzi.
- Alto Lounge The rooftop lounge, for cocktails and small plates with the Manama skyline around you.
- Bab Al Bahrain at the door The gateway to the old souq is right outside, and The Avenues Bahrain is about a kilometre away.
