The hotel
A village in the hills behind the coast.
Viceroy at Ombria Algarve opened on 1 October 2024, the brand's first hotel in Western Europe and its second in Europe after Kopaonik in Serbia. It occupies 5.2 hectares of the 153-hectare Ombria estate near Tôr, in the borough of Loulé, about twenty minutes inland from the beaches. It has 151 rooms, suites and residences, the residences with one or two bedrooms and their own kitchens.
The architects WATG and Promontorio laid it out like a hillside village, with a courtyard café at its centre and modern buildings set into the slope. Wimberly Interiors used local materials, azulejo tiles and beamed ceilings. Around it runs the Ombria golf course, eighteen holes and par 71, with GEO certification for its environmental work. Some of the residences beside it have a pool of their own.
