The hotel

Faro's first five-star hotel.

When 3HB opened in 2021 it was the first five-star hotel in Faro itself, and the Portuguese group's fifth in the Algarve. It took over two buildings in the pedestrian heart of the city, one of them about a hundred years old. The architect was Miguel Abreu; the designer Paulo Lobo did the rooms in pale tones with Algarve touches such as woven palm.

Most of the city is within walking distance of the door, and the beaches are a short drive. The MICHELIN Guide calls it an urban resort, and the roof explains why: an infinity pool, a bar and the restaurant Hábito, with views over the rooftops of the old town to the lagoon. Downstairs there is a heated indoor pool, a sauna and a Turkish bath, and some suites have a jacuzzi on a private terrace.

  • The roof An infinity pool above the old town, a cocktail bar and the restaurant Hábito, all facing the Ria Formosa.
  • The spa An indoor heated pool, sauna, Turkish bath and treatment rooms, with a Technogym gym alongside. Sessions are split by age through the day.
  • Faro on foot The hotel stands in the pedestrian centre, with Forno Nero opening onto the city's traditional shopping street.
