The hotel
A hotel of 1981 on the embankment.
The hotel opened on 28 November 1981 as the Forum Hotel, on the Pest bank of the Danube, in sight of the Chain Bridge. József Finta drew the building and László Király did the interiors. The entrance is on Apáczai Csere János utca, with the Danube Promenade on the other side. Its riverfront rooms have windows the width of the wall, looking at the Chain Bridge, the Royal Palace and the Buda hills.
InterContinental took over the hotel on 6 May 1997 and renovated it between 1998 and 2000. A further renovation of the rooms and of the Corso restaurant and bar was finished in 2009. Today the building belongs to the Al Habtoor Group, and its two restaurants cook in two directions: Hungarian at Corso, Lebanese at ARZ, where the windows face the Castle District. Suite guests also have the Club InterContinental lounge on the first floor.
- The view from the river rooms Wall-length windows facing the Chain Bridge, the Royal Palace and the Buda hills across the water.
- Corso Terrace A bar on the Danube side, with seasonal cocktails and jazz on Friday nights.
- Club InterContinental A lounge for guests in Junior Suites and above, with VIP check-in and evening drinks.
