The hotel
The forester's lodge above the gorge.
The house began as a royal Bavarian forester's lodge, and in 1851 the expedition that raised the first summit cross on the Zugspitze set out from its door. It later became a mountain inn. In 1953 a cable car was built up from the valley, the first fully automated small-cabin line in the world. Fire destroyed the inn in November 1968, and it reopened as a hikers' hotel in 1970.
In 2013 the doctors Sylvia and Vincens Weingart and their family took it over and spent about two years rebuilding it; the new Das Graseck opened in 2015. It stands at 900 metres below the Dreitorspitze, above the Partnach gorge. A practice of specialist physicians is attached, and a new Doppelmayr cable car, free for guests, now runs from the valley to the door of the hotel.
- The Graseckbahn The only way up: a fully automated cable car from the valley, running daily from early morning to late evening, free for hotel guests.
- Panorama Spa An infinity pool, a relax pool, saunas and a garden terrace high above the valley, for guests aged sixteen and over.
- Medical check-ups Cardiovascular, skin, urological and back screenings by a team of specialist doctors, booked on site without a waiting list.
