The hotel
A village on the edge of the Akamas.
Anassa opened in 1998 on the north-west coast of Cyprus, below the village of Neo Chorio and a few minutes from the harbour at Latchi. The Thanos family built it as a cluster of white houses in the manner of a Byzantine village, set in gardens that run down to the sand. The name is the ancient Greek word for queen.
The Akamas, the protected peninsula at the western tip of the island, begins along the shore. Thalassa, the spa, is built around a sky-lit indoor pool in the Roman manner. More than ten million euros have recently gone into the main terrace, the larger suites and all the villas. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and closes each winter, from mid-November until April.
- Thalassa Spa Thalassotherapy built around a sky-lit, Roman-style indoor pool, with a saltwater exercise pool, saunas, steam baths and yoga.
- On the water A PADI Five Star dive centre and an RYA sailing school on the beach, with the coves of the Akamas within reach by boat.
- Explorers Club From April to October, a children's club in four age groups, from four months to twelve years.
