The hotel
Where Bond was written.
Ian Fleming spent his winters at GoldenEye and wrote all fourteen James Bond books here, at a desk that still stands in the original house, now the Fleming Villa. Noël Coward was a neighbour along the coast. The estate sits on a bluff above a cove at Oracabessa, east of Ocho Rios.
Chris Blackwell, the founder of Island Records, bought it in the 1970s. The old house had too few rooms, so he added more: beach villas designed by Ann Hodges, cottages and suites at the edge of a four-acre lagoon, and huts by Snorkeler's Cove. Low Cay Beach, about 500 feet of white sand, lies in front.
- The lagoon Cottages open straight onto the water, each with its own dock and kayak.
- The Spa at GoldenEye Treatments in open-air huts at the edge of the lagoon.
- Four places to drink Shabeen's rooftop over the sea, Bizot Bar on Low Cay Beach, the rum bar on Button Beach and The Gazebo.
