The hotel
A designer's idea of a 1970s beach house.
Gabriella Khalil, a London-based designer, founded Palm Heights in 2019 and is still its creative director. Her brief was a Caribbean mansion of the 1970s. Sandy yellows and strong blues fill the rooms, the stone floors came from Italy, and the furniture is by Marcel Breuer, Mario Bellini, Pierre Paulin and Pierre Chapo. An Ettore Sottsass rug hangs on the lobby wall.
The building steps down towards Seven Mile Beach, with two pools divided by hedges and yellow-and-white umbrellas on the sand. In the summer of 2023 the hotel opened The Garden Club across the street, an outdoor wellness ground of 60,000 square feet. Jake Tyler Brodsky, who cooked at Eleven Madison Park in New York, runs the kitchens. The MICHELIN Guide gives Palm Heights one Key; Forbes rates it four stars.
