The hotel
A longhouse by the sea.
Sutera Harbour began in 1994 on 384 acres of ocean-front land in Kota Kinabalu, and was dedicated in July 2000. It holds two hotels. The Pacific Sutera took the business guests; The Magellan Sutera was built for holidays, with the spa and the club floor. More than five hundred million dollars went into the estate, which also holds a marina and a country club, and the two hotels have 956 rooms between them.
Its lobby is styled on a longhouse of the Rungus people of Sabah. The 456 rooms look over the South China Sea or the gardens, and the sun goes down over the sea. Around the hotel lie a 27-hole course designed by Graham Marsh and a marina with berths for superyachts. Children from three to twelve join the Little Magellan programme every day.
- Golf Twenty-seven championship holes by Graham Marsh, run by the Sutera Harbour Marina and Country Club next door.
- The marina A hundred and ten berths and room for thirteen superyachts, on the same estate.
- Little Magellan A daily programme for children of three to twelve, from 8 am to 7 pm.
