The hotel

On the waterfront for half a century.

The Hyatt Regency has been a landmark of Kota Kinabalu for close to fifty years. It stands on the waterfront in the town centre, next to the swordfish statue and a row of boutiques. The rooms look either over the South China Sea and the islands or back across the city. The Poolside Bar sits on the waterfront, facing the sunset over the sea.

Rooms start at 42 square metres. The Regency Club adds a lounge for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks. Downstairs, Tanjung Ria Kitchen cooks Malaysian, Chinese and Indian dishes in open kitchens, and Nagisa serves sushi and teppanyaki in a room modelled on a Japanese winter cottage. Mosaic, at street level, makes fourteen flavours of gelato, and the Presidential Suite, 180 square metres, looks out over the islands.

  • Regency Club A lounge for club guests, with breakfast, afternoon tea and drinks with canapés in the evening.
  • Poolside Bar Cabanas by the pool and the sun setting over the water.
