The hotel
A ryotei that took in guests.
Tsuruko was a kaiseki ryotei, one of the formal dining houses of Kanazawa, before it was renewed as an inn. It reopened on 7 November 2025 with four rooms for overnight guests and Chishinan, a kappo counter of eight seats with one private room. The rooms sit upstairs, each with its own bath in the open air. The house motto, wa kei sei jaku, comes from the tea ceremony: harmony, respect, purity and calm.
The kitchen is led by Keisuke Takemoto, who spent about twelve years at Kitcho in Kyoto and later cooked at Aman Kyoto. His menu follows the season, with matsutake in autumn and Kano crab, the snow crab of Ishikawa, in winter. The inn stands in Takaokamachi, between the station and the castle, a few minutes on foot from Omicho Market.
- A spring in every room All four rooms have an open-air bath fed with hot spring water, and two add a sauna.
- Dinner at home The Chishinan menu is served at a private table in your room, or at the counter downstairs.
- The old town on foot Omicho Market and the castle park are a short walk, Kenrokuen a little further.
