The hotel

Where Gudauri began.

Marco Polo opened in 1988, the first hotel at Gudauri, now the largest ski resort in Georgia. It stands at 2,003 metres on the Georgian Military Road, the old route over the Caucasus to Kazbegi, close to the first ski lift. The building runs to three floors, with rooms facing either the mountains or the garden, and three alpine chalets called Sno for larger parties.

The hotel stays open all year. In winter you clip into your skis at the door and leave them in the ski depot at night; there is a ski shop on site, and instructors can be booked, children's included. In summer the outdoor pool, the tennis and padel courts, bowling alley and spa keep guests busy between outings to Stepantsminda.

  • Skis on at the door Ski-in and ski-out, a short way from the first lift, with rental, a ski shop and a depot in the hotel.
  • Two pools One indoors with mountain views and a bar beside it, and one outdoors.
  • Marco Polo Spa Saunas, a steam room and massage, with a gym close by.
