The hotel
Beijing's first European hotel.
The hotel opened in 1992 as part of the Lufthansa Center, the first Kempinski in China and the first European five-star hotel in Beijing. It stands at 50 Liangmaqiao Road, inside the East Third Ring Road, in the embassy and business district of Chaoyang, near the Liangma River. Since then it has housed Olympic delegations in 2008, APEC diplomats and the 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
In 2019 the hotel finished a renovation of thirty million US dollars, the largest in its history, and all 480 rooms came out new. The two Presidential Suites hold Chinese art, and four Diplomatic Suites are each themed on a dynasty: Ming, Yuan, Qin and Tang. The hotel now carries the Yansha Center name, and it still runs seven restaurants, the Paulaner Bräuhaus and Kempi Deli among them.
- Paulaner Bräuhaus A Bavarian beer hall that has been part of the hotel since 1992.
- Kempi Deli A European bakery, butchery and delicatessen run by the hotel.
- Diplomatic Suites Four suites, each themed on a Chinese dynasty, plus two Presidential Suites.
