The hotel
The old Hotel de la Paix, made over.
The building began as the Hotel de la Paix, one of the town's classic addresses. Hyatt took it on, spent fourteen months rebuilding it and reopened it on 2 August 2013 as its first hotel in Cambodia. Bill Bensley, the Bangkok designer, drew a white façade and a domed ceiling that recall the towers of Angkor Wat.
Inside, he mixed wood floors, Italian marble and contemporary Khmer art, for the feel of a private residence. Rooms ring a central courtyard with a pool and water garden. The Dining Room opens towards a banyan tree, and the night market and Pub Street are a short walk away.
- The courtyard A freeform pool and water garden at the centre of the hotel, with a lap pool on the ground floor as well.
- Cambodian spa Herbal compress massages and facials based on Cambodian healing traditions.
- Close to everything The Angkor Night Market and Pub Street are on foot; Angkor Archaeological Park is a short drive north.
