The hotel
An antiques dealer's house in the mountains.
The house belonged to an Italian antiques dealer, Luciano Tempo, and some of his collection still furnishes it. Eve Branson saw it on a family trip in 1998, while her son was preparing a balloon flight, and urged him to buy it. It stands near Asni, a Berber village in the foothills of the High Atlas. After about two years of restoration it opened in 2005 as part of Virgin Limited Edition.
The earthquake of September 2023 damaged the main building. A year of work followed, and on 24 October 2024 the kasbah reopened with six new riads and a second restaurant, growing from 28 rooms to 42. Each new riad has three bedrooms and a private pool. Every member of staff is Moroccan, and Berber craftspeople working with the Eve Branson Foundation make furniture for the house.
- The infinity pool An outdoor pool looking over the river valley to the mountains, with an indoor pool for cooler days.
- Asounfou Spa A Moroccan hammam, sauna and treatment rooms, with spa treatments on request.
- Into the Atlas Guided treks and mule rides set out from the kasbah into the valleys around Asni.
