The city
Headland, sand and marble.
Da Nang faces the South China Sea across a long, straight run of sand: My An and Non Nuoc to the south, where most of the resorts stand, and the green bulk of the Son Tra peninsula closing the bay to the north. The airport sits almost inside the city, so a guest can be at the water within the hour of landing.
The city tourism office counts March to August as the dry season and its busiest months, with festivals gathered between May and July. From September the rains build, and October brings over half a metre; the sea stays close to 30 °C through the summer.
Arriving
Land almost in town.
Da Nang International lies 3 km south-west of the centre. Its main runway is 3,500 m long, the airport is open around the clock, and customs is on hand for arrivals from abroad.

When to go
March to August.
The tourism office places the dry season from March to August, and the figures agree: little rain in spring, then heat in the low thirties with the sea at its warmest. Storms and heavy rain gather from September to December.
