The hotel

A sky bar in Bonapriso.

Star Land opened in 2013 on rue Dominique Savio in Bonapriso, a residential district in the first arrondissement of Douala. It is a compact building of six levels and seventy rooms, among them several apartments, which suit guests who stay for a week or more. Douala International is about four kilometres away, and the hotel runs a free shuttle to and from the terminal.

Most of the life of the hotel happens at the top and at the bottom. Up on the roof, the sky bar serves cocktails above the city. Down by the outdoor pool there is a swim-up bar and a pool bar. In between are two restaurants, Le Gourmet among them, a coffee shop and conference rooms of 30 to 200 square metres.

Douala International (DLA) is about four kilometres away, roughly ten minutes by car by our estimate, depending on traffic. Scheduled flights and private jets both land there, and the hotel runs a free shuttle.
