The hotel
A front-row seat on Kazbek.
Stepantsminda is the last town on the Georgian side of the Military Road before the Darial Gorge and the Russian border. Above it, on a ridge, stands Gergeti Trinity Church, and behind that rises Mount Kazbek, which Georgians call Mkinvartsveri. Memoir Kazbegi is on 9 Aprili Street in the centre of town, and most of its rooms are turned towards that view.
It is a small hotel of 35 rooms. The terrace on top gives the widest outlook, from the church across to the high peaks, and there is a solarium for the bright mountain days. Downstairs the restaurant cooks Georgian and European dishes and keeps a long list of wines, and a bar stays open after dinner. Some rooms have a kitchenette, useful for families on a longer stay.
- The terrace A panoramic terrace with a wide view of the peaks, Gergeti Trinity Church and Mount Kazbek.
- Rooms for families Family studios, and some rooms with a kitchenette, fridge and hob.
- Wine with dinner Georgian and European cooking in the restaurant, and a wide choice of wines.
