The hotel
A ski hotel high on the Military Road.
Gudauri sits on the old Georgian Military Road, the route that crosses the Greater Caucasus from Tbilisi to the Russian border, and the ski resort has grown up along it. Best Western Gudauri is one of the resort's newer hotels, built a little apart from the centre, some two kilometres away, at an altitude of 2,196 metres. The hotel describes itself as newly built, and it carries the Best Western name.
The building is modern and simple in style. Its 58 rooms all have a balcony facing the mountains, and some connect, which helps families. In winter a free shuttle runs to the slopes and skis can be hired in the hotel. Out of season the road north leads to Stepantsminda and Mount Kazbek, about forty minutes away by the hotel's reckoning.

- Warmth after skiing A sauna, a steam room and an outdoor hot tub on the terrace, open from nine in the morning to eleven at night.
