The hotel

A new house on Ybl's corner.

Miklós Ybl built the Buda Savings Bank on this corner between 1860 and 1862, and from 1864 the Lánchíd Café on its ground floor drew politicians and artists. The building was badly hit in the Second World War and later pulled down. Parts of the arcade survived, and the new hotel reuses Corinthian columns and a marble railing from it.

The hotel was built from 2016 and opened in 2018 to a concept by the architect Anthony Gall. It takes its name from the square, which honours Adam Clark, the engineer who oversaw the building of the Chain Bridge and then designed the tunnel under Castle Hill. Leo, the hotel's lion, comes from the stone lions on the bridge.

  • Leo Rooftop An eighth-floor bar open all year, looking over the Danube to Parliament and back to the castle. Tables are booked ahead.
  • Between bridge and funicular The Chain Bridge is outside the door and the funicular up to Castle Hill starts beside the hotel.
  • Sauna at any hour A Finnish sauna and a gym on the first floor, open around the clock.
