The hotel
Three buildings, three eras.
Three neighbours in Pest make up the hotel. Weber House, neo-Renaissance, went up in 1873 for a savings bank. Mahart House followed in 1913, Art Nouveau, for the Hungarian river and sea shipping company. Münnich House, of 1937, mixes Art Deco and modernism. Lissoni & Partners of Milan joined them, and heritage conservators restored the grand staircase.
It opened in November 2023 as the first Autograph Collection hotel in Hungary. The name honours Dorothea of Württemberg, wife of the Archduke Palatine Joseph, who governed Hungary in the nineteenth century. He was a keen botanist, so herbs grow on a wall inside and turn up in the kitchen and the bar.
- The atrium A colonnaded entrance hall hung with portraits of women by the photographer Zoltán Tombor.
- Garden in the courtyard Pavilion, the restaurant in the inner courtyard, sits among plants, and the herb wall supplies the kitchen and the cocktails.
- The spa About 650 square metres with a pool, a sauna, a steam bath, a gym and three treatment rooms, with treatments built on Hungarian herbs.
