The city
A winter resort that never closed.
Nice was where Europe came to spend the winter, and in 2021 UNESCO listed it as the Riviera Winter Resort Town: the seafront from the Promenade des Anglais to Mont Boron, the gardens of Cimiez, the Russian cathedral of Saint-Nicolas. Between Castle Hill and the Place Masséna lies the old town; beyond it, the Promenade du Paillon and the port.
Summer runs from June to September, with highs in the mid-twenties and the sea at 23 to 24 °C in July and August. October and November bring the heaviest rain. Winter stays mild, around 11 to 14 °C by day, and the city keeps working all year.
Arriving
One airport on the bay.
Nice Côte d'Azur sits on the shore at the western edge of the city. Airlines and private jets use the same runways, with a terminal of their own for business aviation.
