The hotel
A hotel joined to a mall.
Majid Al Futtaim, the Dubai group behind City Centre Bahrain, brought in Starwood to run two hotels on the edge of its mall in Seef. The Westin and the Le Méridien next door opened together on 1 July 2014, and guests of either can use the facilities of both. The Westin took the smaller share, 200 rooms, six of them executive suites, and a Royal Suite.
The hotel opens straight into the mall, which holds more than 340 shops, a cinema, a bowling centre and the Wahooo water park. Upstairs, the Heavenly Spa has ten treatment rooms on the third floor, separate areas for men and women, and what the hotel describes as one of the largest hammams in Bahrain. On the pool deck, Nasmat serves food outdoors beside the main pool, a children's pool and a whirlpool.
