The hotel
The first five stars on the island.
George and Eleftheria Daktylides opened the first hotel on Mykonos outside the town, and the family went on to build The Myconian Collection. The Ambassador opened in 1992 above Platis Gialos, and the family describes it as the first five-star hotel on the island. Their four sons, Vangelis, Panos, Markos and Marios, now run the group.
The buildings are whitewashed stone above the bay, and most rooms face the sea. Psarou and Platis Gialos are the nearest beaches, and Mykonos Town is about five kilometres away. The spa is built around seawater: a thalassotherapy circuit leads through pools of different salinity and temperature. The hotel belongs to Relais & Châteaux.
- Thalassotherapy A circuit through seawater pools at different salinities and temperatures, followed by treatments with Elemis and Ligne St Barth.
- Efisia Greek and Mediterranean cooking on the terrace above the bay, from fish and produce bought on the island.
- Three seawater pools Including a large pool facing the sea, with in-water seating.

Private jets land at the same airport, where in July and August parking is tight and aircraft often drop their passengers and reposition.
