The hotel
Family land above Ornos.
Kalesma opened on 25 May 2021 on a hill above Ornos Bay, on land that one of its three owners' families had held for more than a century. The owners are islanders who made their names in Athens with Sea Spice and Pere Ubu. The estate has grown since, up to the seven-bedroom Kalesma Leto Villa.
K-Studio, the practice behind work at Mykonos airport, designed the buildings with Vangelis Bonios of Studio Bonarchi. They kept the whitewash and bougainvillea-covered arches of the Cyclades and furnished the reception with Rick Owens pieces, in wood, marble, stone and osier. A local baker fires the brick oven through the day, and the estate has its own chapel.
- A heated pool for every suite Even the smallest one-bedroom suite has a private heated infinity pool, an outdoor shower and an outdoor kitchen.
- Dr. Barbara Sturm The spa works with the skincare doctor, and a new open-air wellness area is built round a waterfall.
- Aloni at sunset A lounge on the hilltop for the last of the light. Yoga and Pilates sessions can be booked too.

Getting there
Flying to Mykonos.
Mykonos airport is about 5 kilometres away, some fifteen minutes by car; both figures are our estimate. In summer, direct flights arrive from much of Europe, and Athens is a short connection all year. Private jets land at the same airport, where in July and August parking is tight and aircraft often drop their passengers and reposition.
- Athens 30 min
