The hotel
A Starck village on the Saint-Michel hill.
The French entrepreneur Alain Weill and his daughter Lucie built Lily of the Valley on the Saint-Michel hill above Gigaro, where their family had spent summers for generations. It opened in 2019. The land around it is protected under Natura 2000, and the hotel was meant to sit low in it, with green roofs and houses grouped like a hill village.
Philippe Starck designed everything from the ground up, from the plan to the details in the rooms. He described the starting point as a fantasy of Antiquity. Below the hill, Gigaro beach runs for several kilometres along the cape. The hotel was built for sport and wellbeing, and unusually for this coast it stays open all year. Two beach restaurants and a sailing club wait at the bottom of the path.
- Wellness programmes Two thousand square metres for sport, spa and rest, with stays of four to twenty-eight days built on fitness and diet, advised by the nutritionist Jacques Fricker.
- The Shape Club A semi-Olympic pool of twenty-five metres, heated all year, with saunas, a steam room, a snow shower and a cold plunge in the Shape Club.
- Down at the beach A private beach with loungers and a sailing club, and two beach restaurants, Brigantine and Pépé. A shuttle runs down the hill.
