The hotel
Built for the World Cup, kept for the beach.
The hotel opened on 1 November 2022, nearly three weeks before the World Cup began, in the Entertainment City district of Lusail, the new town north of Doha where the final was played. Every one of its 429 rooms and suites has a balcony, facing the Gulf, the city, Lusail Boulevard or the stadium itself, and the largest, the Presidential Suite, runs to about 11,355 square feet.
Waldorf Astoria brought its New York habits along. Peacock Alley, a name every Waldorf Astoria carries from New York, serves afternoon tea, oysters and caviar in the lobby, and The Highmore on the roof is modelled on a London members' club. Down at sea level are two hundred metres of private sand, three pools, a FlowRider surf machine and a ballroom for 750 guests.
- The beach Two hundred metres of private shore on the Gulf, with the first SUSHISAMBA beach club and its own pool and cabanas.
- ESPA Life Three floors and nineteen treatment rooms, with a private indoor pool, a snow room and a hammam.
- For children Kids' and teens' clubs, a family pool, the Aloha Surf Club and access to the Wadi Lusail waterpark.
