The hotel
A ministry on the Corniche.
The building went up in the 1960s to designs by the Lebanese architect William Sednaoui, and for decades it housed Qatar's Ministry of the Interior. Its five floors look across the Corniche to the Gulf and the Amiri Diwan. David Chipperfield Architects kept the coffered concrete ceilings and added shade, planting, a concrete pergola, new sculpture and running water at the entrance.
Soho House Design did the interiors in terrazzo, silk and green marble from the Greek island of Tinos. The Ned opened here in November 2022, during the World Cup, as the third Ned after London and New York and the first in the Middle East. The members' club, Ned's Club Upstairs, sits under the roof, and Corniche Hall, with its own entrance, takes up to six hundred guests.
- Ned's Pool Club A 30-metre outdoor pool with striped daybeds and Malibu Kitchen beside it, busy at lunchtime.
- Ned's Club Spa On the top floor, with a sauna, steam room and traditional hammam, and a private gym for women.
- The stage Live music under the atrium, set in green Tinos marble, as at The Ned in London.
