The hotel
The grande dame of West Bay.
Four Seasons opened here on 23 April 2005, an eighteen-storey tower of white stone on the Corniche in West Bay. The style is Arab: two openwork domes decorated with arabesques, colonnades of arches, and a pool that falls over three levels towards the sand, shaded by palms and cabanas. The hotel likes to call itself the grande dame of the city. It opened with seven restaurants and a spa of twelve treatment rooms.
Around it sit a marina, an office tower and residences, all part of the same complex. The MICHELIN inspectors note how calm the place feels against the glass and steel of the district, and how well it suits guests staying a week or a season. The rooms were redone recently in blues and beiges, the colours of the sky, sea and sand outside.
