The hotel
A hilltop hotel of 1925, opened again.
Ramón Raventós designed the Gran Hotel La Florida in the Noucentista style, and it opened in 1925 on Tibidabo, the highest hill in Barcelona. Ernest Hemingway stayed here, and so did James Stewart, Rock Hudson and Princess Fabiola of Belgium. The building stands on the road from Vallvidrera to the summit. In more recent years the guest book took in Bruce Springsteen, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Tom Hanks.
In October 2025 the hotel reopened under the METT name, with seventy rooms and suites and a five-star rating. The vermouth bar is called 1925 after the year of the first opening. A free shuttle runs down to the Passeig de Gràcia, so the city centre stays within easy reach. The heated pool of thirty-seven metres runs from indoors to the open air, with the city and the sea beyond.
- The long pool Thirty-seven metres, running from inside to the open air, heated, with a pool bar and sun decks over the city and the sea.
