The hotel

The jewellers' house on La Rambla.

Josep Fontseré i Domènech designed the building in 1850, and Barcelona still calls it El Regulador. For more than a hundred years it held the workshop of Bagués-Masriera, the jewellery and silver house of the Masriera family, and it was the family's first headquarters. The building stands at number 105 on La Rambla, and the hotel inside is decorated in the spirit of Art Nouveau and Catalan modernisme, with the feel of a small museum.

The hotel opened in 2010, a joint venture of the jewellers and Derby Hotels Collection, the group of Jordi Clos; Derby bought out the Masriera share in 2015. Masriera's Modernist and Art Deco pieces fill a room on the first floor and appear in the guest rooms, with a separate room given to Émile Gallé's glass. It belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

  • The jewellery An exhibition room on the first floor with Modernist and Art Deco pieces by Lluís Masriera, and a piece from the collection in each Jewel Suite.
  • Bagués Terrace The top floor, with a plunge pool, a sun deck and views over the old city.
  • El Regulador A Mediterranean bistro open through the day, named after the building.
