The hotel
An Olympic tower on the beach.
Bruce Graham of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the tower for the 1992 Olympics, with its steel frame left on show outside. It rises 154 metres over forty-four floors on the Port Olímpic, and Frank Gehry's golden fish, also made for the Games, lies in the garden beside the pool. It opened provisionally in 1992 and properly in 1994, as the first hotel in Europe run by Ritz-Carlton.
Its owner, Archer Hotel Capital, is spending some 220 million euros on the largest hotel renovation in the city. Meyer Davis of New York redesigned the rooms first, cutting their number from about 482 to 432, and the work has moved on to the lobby, restaurants, pools and gardens, due to finish in 2027. The hotel stays open throughout, and Marriott runs it under the Ritz-Carlton name.
- On the beach Two outdoor pools in gardens that run down to the seafront, with Gehry's fish above them.
- Enoteca Paco Pérez Two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 guide, for Paco Pérez's modern cooking with seafood at its heart.
- The spa On the fourth floor, with massages and beauty treatments, a sauna, steam rooms and an indoor pool.
