The hotel
Thirty years on the Sea of Cortez.
Las Ventanas al Paraíso opened in July 1997, in the stretch of desert coast between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The buildings mix Mediterranean and Mexican styles, with stone paths, handmade details and bougainvillea falling from the roofs. Every suite has a butler and a wood-burning fireplace. Rosewood runs it, with a staff of about 700, and the resort turns thirty in 2027.
Hurricane Odile closed it in 2014 for nearly a year, and it was the last of the big Los Cabos resorts to reopen. The owner, Ty Warner, had it rebuilt to look as it did before, down to the planting. In 2026 it climbed to No. 25 in The World's 50 Best Hotels, nineteen places higher than its first entry a year earlier.
- A butler for every suite Butlers work around the clock, and turndown includes a scent for the fireplace.
- Eight pools A winding chain of freshwater pools with a swim-up bar and a grotto. The sea in front is usually too rough for swimming.
- La Cava The wine cellar holds 2,400 bottles and is set aside for private dinners.
Rooms & suites
Big suites, fireplaces and roof terraces.
The smallest suite is about 89 square metres. All have a living area, a wood-burning fireplace and Mexican craftwork; some add a private pool, a rooftop terrace or a telescope.
- Suites Ocean and golf suites From about 89 square metres, many with a Jacuzzi, some looking over both the sea and the golf course.
- Villas Signature villas Some with three bedrooms or more, each looked after by its own Villa Host.
- Signature Ty Warner Mansion Named after the owner. The resort's accommodation runs up to about 2,600 square metres.
