The hotel

Auberge on a swimming beach.

Most of the coast between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas is too rough to swim. Chileno Bay is the exception: a protected cove with calm water much of the year. Auberge opened its resort here in 2017, its second on this coast after Esperanza, with rooms on the slope above the sand and villas on the hillside behind. Today the hotel counts eighty-six rooms, four suites and fifty villas. Comal, its first restaurant, opened on three open-air tiers above the water.

Glazier Le Architects drew the buildings and BAMO the interiors, open to the air on all sides, and Girvin & Associates laid out the landscape. The estate covers 22 acres. The villas now run from two to six bedrooms. Behind them lies the Chileno Bay Club, whose Tom Fazio course is closed to everyone but members and resort guests. Forbes Travel Guide rates the resort Five-Star.

  • The beach A private beach club on one of the few stretches of this coast where swimming is usually safe. Kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling gear come from the H2O Cave.
  • Golf The Tom Fazio course at Chileno Bay Club, 18 holes and par 72, is for members only. Resort guests are the one exception.
  • Sol spa Ten treatment rooms, some of them outdoors, with a bath house, a nap garden and a reflexology pool.

Rooms & suites

Terraces, outdoor showers and plunge pools.

Rooms face the ocean, the beach or the gardens, and each has an outdoor shower. The suites and many villas add their own pool or hot tub.

  • Rooms Guest rooms About 70 to 82 square metres, with a private terrace, a soaking tub and an outdoor shower.
  • Suites Suites Four of them, about 120 to 195 square metres indoors and out, each with an infinity-edge plunge pool and a hot tub.
  • Villas Villas Two to six bedrooms, from about 307 square metres up to 2,230, with full kitchens and many with a private pool.

Questions

What guests ask first.

How many MICHELIN Keys does Chileno Bay have?
Two, in the 2026 selection for Mexico. Its sister resort Esperanza holds two as well.
Can you swim at Chileno Bay?
Usually, yes. The resort sits on a protected cove, one of the few swimmable beaches on this coast, though it closes on days when the current is too strong.
Can guests play the Chileno Bay golf course?
Yes. The Tom Fazio course is private, and resort guests are the only non-members allowed to book tee times.
Can SkyCourtage arrange the flight to Los Cabos?
Yes. We arrange Business and First Class seats on scheduled airlines and private jet charter to Los Cabos, with one final price, our margin included. The hotel is booked with the hotel or through our booking partner.
