The hotel
Golden twenties on Potsdamer Platz.
Potsdamer Platz lay empty beside the Wall until reunification, and the hotel belongs to the square's rebuilding. Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht designed it as part of the Beisheim Center, a sandstone tower of nineteen floors built between 2002 and 2004, with private apartments above the hotel. The Tiergarten, the Brandenburg Gate and the Kulturforum are all a short walk away.
The lobby sets the tone: marble columns, a double staircase and crystal chandeliers. The rooms were later redone by GA Group Budapest and Carbone Interior Design, with geometric patterns and plenty of marble in homage to Berlin's film studios of the 1920s. At the top, the Ritz-Carlton apartment covers about 3,100 square feet on the twelfth floor, with its own lift.
- The Curtain Club A cocktail bar of about sixty seats, in the spirit of the 1920s.
- POTS German classics cooked with a modern hand by Christopher Kujanski, in a room with bronze details taken from brewing kettles.
- Pool and saunas An indoor pool, Finnish and steam saunas and a gym. There is no full spa, though treatments can be booked.
