The hotel
A modern hotel in Pocitos.
Pocitos is the Montevideo neighbourhood of apartment blocks, cafés and the Rambla, the long seafront road that follows the Río de la Plata. Hotel Montevideo stands on José Benito Lamas, about a quarter of a mile from the beach, in a contemporary building of its own. It belongs to Leading Hotels of the World and holds one MICHELIN Key.
The rooms were furnished to order, mixing antique pieces with modernist ones, and every one of them has floor-to-ceiling windows and at least one balcony. For longer stays there are Residences with kitchenettes and walk-in wardrobes. The hotel has a gym but no spa; the heated outdoor pool, with the city skyline behind it, makes up for much of that.
