The hotel

Glass on Pocitos Bay.

Costanero opened in late 2021 as an MGallery, Accor's collection of hotels with a story of their own. It stands where Pocitos Bay meets the Rambla, the promenade that follows the shore across the city, and its glass façade mirrors the Río de la Plata. The design came from Estudio Penha in São Paulo, who set out to catch the light of Montevideo's sky and water.

Inside, the hotel hangs work by Uruguayan artists and takes its cues from the city's older houses and architecture. The rooms run on home automation. At the top of the building, the suites have terraces with views over the city, and on the first floor the restaurant looks out to sea. Its name, Cauce, means a riverbed, and the cooking leans on Uruguayan produce.

  • Pocitos beach Across the Rambla from the front door, with the promenade running east toward Carrasco.
  • Cauce Uruguayan cooking with Mediterranean notes, one floor above the street and facing the bay.
