The hotel
Facing the bay.
Imago opened in 2007 on the edge of El Calafate, about seven hundred metres back from the shore of Lago Argentino, and was refurbished in 2010. The building faces the bay, and many rooms have large windows onto the water; others look out over the steppe. A free transfer runs guests into the centre of town, and the bus station is about four kilometres away.
Inside, the tones are soft and the finishes plain: wood and stone in the suites, pastel colours in Cícero Bistró, the dining room. Just two Master Suites take the front of the building. Imago Spa has a heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and gym, and takes outside guests for treatments. An events hall on site takes meetings and small conventions.
