The hotel
Seventeen years shut, then pink marble.
Before it was Palm House, this was the Heart of Palm Beach hotel. It closed around 2007, when a company controlled by the developer Robert V. Matthews bought it. Work stopped in 2014 amid an ownership dispute, and Matthews was later jailed for fraud with investors' money meant for the renovation. The building sat empty, with code violations and a bankruptcy behind it.
In 2019 an affiliate of London's L+R Hotels bought it for $39.6 million in a court-approved sale. Cooper Carry handled the architecture and Muza Lab the interiors, in sea green, sand and coral. After about three years of building work, Palm House opened on 27 November 2024 with 36 rooms ready, the first hotel in the United States for the London group. The art was chosen by Minda Dowling in London.

Rooms are bright, with a 1960s feel, coral headboards and limestone floors downstairs. The 58 rooms average more than 550 square feet, and some have balconies.
